Dear Colleagues of Region 6!
The UTPB Music Department has produced a short video illustrating how music can be a vital part of the college experience. It explains the various ensembles available to all University students. I would be honored if you would share the information below with all of your students. The text details how we are conducting virtual auditions for scholarships. There are links to the video as well a Student Information Form.
Please (pretty-pretty-pretty please!) use whatever your online format is to share this information with them. There are so many uncertainties right now, and I don't want their participation in band (and the accompanying scholarship) to be one of them! Thank you so very much for all that you do. Dear Future Falcons!
The Music Department at UT Permian Basin is now conducting virtual auditions for the 2020-21 academic year! If you still need to complete your band audition, we can do that in any virtual format that is best for you (YouTube, ZOOM, FaceTime, etc.) or you can record your audition material and email it to me.
The audition consists of:
- Two contrasting etudes or solos (All-Region etudes work great for this and you need only perform excerpts, not the entire thing)
- Two major scales of your choice (two octaves)
- The chromatic scale (full range of the instrument)
- Due to the current situation I have removed the sight-reading portion of the audition
- Percussionists: contact me directly to discuss what you need to prepare
We know that your University audition plans (and everything else!) were disrupted due to the Coronavirus. Despite these circumstances, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to complete your audition, earn a terrific scholarship, and fulfill your college dreams at UTPB.
My plans to visit your campus were hampered by the Corornavirus, so we would like to give you a virtual tour of the University and show you how music can truly enhance your college experience. TAKE A LOOK!
