Fwd: Honor Band Update

Colleagues,

Happy Friday. By now, you should have received an email from TMEA about the Honor Band and invited band process. Our State Band Chair, Dana Pradervand, asked region band chairs to provide her with four names from each region of people who would like to serve on a committee that will determine the feasibility of the invited ensemble process.

If you are interested in serving on this TMEA state-level committee, please email me back. I need to submit two directors from the high school level and two from the middle / junior high school level. Please respond by October 8th if you are interested. Thank you for your time and best of luck and safe travels to those band programs competing this weekend.

Sincerely,

Steven Dojahn

Dear Steven,

I met online this evening with TMEA Region Band Division Chairs and Region representatives for ATSSB. I announced that the TMEA Honor Band Competition will resume for the 2022–2023 school year. Thus, classes to perform at the 2023 convention will be 6A, 4A, 1A/2A high school and 2C middle school. More Honor Band Competition information will follow in my column in the November issue of Southwestern Musician.

In addition, I am pleased to share that the Executive Board will soon begin a long-range study of the feasibility of an invited ensemble process—this will include the appointment of committee(s) to participate. You will hear more about this from your Region chairs in the near future.

Please reach out to me with any questions or let me know how I can be of service in any way.
