TMEA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Conections, Thursday, December 3

Dear Colleagues,

 

I hope you have had a great Thanksgiving week.

 

This coming Thursday, December 3, TMEA will hold the first TMEA “Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion” Connections Meeting. I hope you will consider registering for it. It is scheduled for 6:00-7:30 pm.  Again, this is this coming Thursday, December 3

Dear UIL Director:

 

H-E-B is a Corporate Sponsor of the UIL and has its annual H-E-B Scholarship Program for Community Service Excellence opportunity.   Nominees must have the following submitted to https://www.sportsinaction.com/scholarship/ by no later than Feb. 3, 2021:

  • Minimum 3.3 GPA
  • Number of Community Service Hours completed in the last 12 months
  • Community Service Verification Letters to document the number of hours submitted
  • A Letter of Recommendation
  • A Short Essay (500 words or less) on the topic: "What does Community mean to you?"

There will be 15 total winners – 5 each in music, academics and athletics – and each will be awarded $2,000 from H-E-B. An announcement of the winners will be March 9, 2021.  Please make your students and/or support staff aware of this opportunity.

TMEA Percussion Audition Update

Colleagues,

This email is intended for directors entering students into the 5A/6A TMEA All-Region Band process. Below is an update from the TMEA Band Division on the percussion audition. 

Percussion Audition Clarification
  • All percussion students will only upload 2 tracks for their audition submission
  • Assignment #1- snare drum etude
  • Assignment #2-  two-mallet etude AND four-mallet etude
    • students are to record both mallet etudes in one session.
  • Clarification- percussion students are to record the 2 mallet etude and the 4 mallet etude in one track (submission). The CANNOT record and submit separate tracks for each mallet etude.
  • This is only for auditions that lead to an All-State Organization. 
  • Percussion scoring instructions for the judges:
    • Snare etude = 150 points
    • Two mallet AND four mallet etude = 150 points (combined total)
