Proposed Region 6 Freshman All-Region Audition Music

Colleagues,

Below are the PROPOSED Region 6 Freshman All-Region Audition Music cuts taken from the actual TMEA all-state etudes. I respectfully ask that you review the cuts below only if you have students auditioning for the freshman region band.

You will have until Friday, September 6, 2019, to send me your comments and concerns about the audition cuts below. I will review all of the comments I receive and if necessary make changes based on the majority of ideas from directors. I will then send out another email the following Monday officially finalizing the freshman auditions music cuts. Once again, these are the PROPOSED cuts. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Thank you,

Steven Dojahn

Steven,

Can you send this out to the Region 6 Band Directors for me?

Directors,

HSU is proud to host our 2nd Annual High School Band Day on Saturday, September 14th, in Abilene. The students will have the opportunity to perform with the "World Famous" Cowboy Band during the halftime of the football game, including the Cowboy Band's unique "Cowstep"! The cost for the day is FREE and each of the participants will receive a T-Shirt to wear as the uniform for the game and a free meal during the HSU Tailgate Party before the game. I am attaching a flyer and plan to hand some out at tomorrow's TMEA Region Meeting in Odessa. Last year we had approximately 53 students who attended the first one and all seemed to really enjoy the experience.

I ask that you please share this information with your students and encourage them to attend if they are free that day! They will need to bring their own instruments.

1:00 pm Registration at the Band Hall

1:30 pm Rehearsal in the Band Hall and on the Parking Lot

3:00 pm Move to Shelton Stadium for a run through on the field

4:30 pm Tail Gate Party!

6:00 pm Game Time!

TMEA Region 6 Band Div Meeting

Dear Colleagues,

This is a friendly reminder that we will have our TMEA Band Div meeting after the general meeting on Saturday. Please keep reading in you are interested in the Honor Band process.

John Carroll with help from Gerry Miller put together a committee of colleagues who hold much interest in the Honor Bands purposes and operations. This committee's purpose was to look at the honor band process and make suggestions on its plan for the future. This is being weighed with everyone's interest and thoughts are definitely welcomed.

The links below include a video which explains the recommendations made by the Honor Band Review Committee. The second link is a "Comparison Chart" of what the current policies state as compared to the suggested changes.

On Saturday during the Band Div meeting, I will ask for your input on these items. The video itself is 35 minutes. I encourage you to watch it a 2 or 3 times before the meeting to make sure you understand what is being suggested.

Thank you and see you on Saturday,

Steven Dojahn
