TMEA Region Meeting & Calendar

Colleagues,

Greetings from Midland. This email serves 2 purposes. To remind you about our region meeting coming up and to share with you the proposed 2019-2020 calendar.
  • MEETING
    • Our TMEA Region Meeting will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Permian HS at 1 pm. After the main meeting, we will have our band division meeting. I will cover items that pertain to all band directors at the beginning of my meeting Then, I will cover band division items that pertain to 5A/6A High Schools and their feeders. As always, any TMEA member may stay for the entire band division meeting.
  • 2019-20 CALENDAR
    • The final calendar approval will take place at our band division meeting. The purpose of sending out the region band calendar beforehand is to hopefully resolve any issues before the region meeting. If you have any questions or concerns, let me know and I will forward your comments to the appropriate person. 95% of the calendar contains dates and events that correspond to our current school year.
    • There are 2 proposed changes that I want to bring to your attention.
      • There are only three weeks between the Thanksgiving break and the Christmas break (usually there are four). Because of this, I have proposed we hold our 5A/6A Phased All-Region auditions one week later than we normally do. This will ensure that our students do not go to Phase 1 the Monday right after Thanksgiving break.
      • Mr. Nail has been looking at the Region 6 UIL events for this spring and because of the migration of all San Angelo schools to the East Zone band C-SR event, we have come up with two 1 day events in the West Zone; one for JH/MS bands and one for the 6A bands. In the interest of efficiency and cost saving, Mr. Nail has proposed that these two events be folded into a single two-day event with one panel of judges for the spring of 2020. This will save considerably on travel expenses.
    • If you have an event that you would like to share with the region band division, such as a local marching or concert band festival, please email me the event title, date, time, location, and description. I will add it to the calendar before the region meeting.
    • The first link will take you to our PROPOSED region band calendar. This calendar contains events for TMEA, ATSSB, TBA, UIL, CCCG, DCI, WTAC, and SWAC.
    • If you prefer to view the entire PROPOSED Region Calendar including all divisions, click here:
See you on Saturday, April 27. Thank you,

Steven Dojahn

Directors,
As you plan for the rest of the year, Suzanne, Victor, and I would like to invite you to participate in our annual Greenwood Music Festival. Scheduled for Saturday, May 12th, our festival is an excellent opportunity for young and beginning students to perform in a band and/or solo and ensemble setting for quality judges. We are also glad to host any orchestra, choir, jazz, mariachi, or guitar ensembles as well! As always, we will be as flexible as we possible to meet your students' needs. Attached are an information letter, entry form, and a meal deal form. Please feel free to give me a call or reply to this email with questions. Thank you so much and have a great semester!

All-Region Band Sheet Music

Colleagues,

Good afternoon. Our TMEA region 6 band division purchased sheet music for our 5A/6A High School All-Region Band Clinic/Concert totaling over $800. I would like to sell the original pieces of music at half the cost to help our region recoup some of the money. If you would like to purchase any or all of these pieces, I would be more than happy to type up an invoice for you. They will be sold on a first come first serve basis and will be available for pickup at the Spring region meeting.

Here are the pieces available (50% off cost):

Thank you,

Steven Dojahn
